Social media has given us all a platform to share our thoughts, yet we live in a time when speech is more hindered than ever. Whether we are delegating the part of forming an opinion to AI or presenting our opinions to a larger public and then being charged for them, we live in a time when being brain-dead might be the safest option.
Two lawyers who have left their law degrees and decided to unleash their opinions on their readers sit down to talk. Naturally, we discuss how AI and unsubstantiated haters are making our jobs annoying.
It is fun to be a hater and in this day and age every person and every event makes it easy to hate and that is why literally everyone is a hater. Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t make it bad.
Some people hate with intention and taste: they drive culture ahead and don't regress back. And then there are those with unearned power: trolls who weaponize their fear, opportunists who manufacture controversy and reactionary censors who are out to cleanse everyone based on their own misdirected morals.
For the past few months, some haters with unearned power have clearly shown why hating should sometimes be limited to their own rooms and not to the public. It results in the taking down of content, the taking down of an entire physical platform and the taking down of any trust in the system.
If the only reason to be a hater is to be cool then please, ya basic.
In addition to that, we talk about AI and how AI has decreased our already dwindling attention spans. Please save yourself and don’t use it as a medium to diminish art. No, Shakespeare never wanted to be ya boy and talk about how lit it was to raise a flood and like take revenge on your bro (this was as casual as Tempest could be).
With AI you get an unpaid lifeless intern that parrots everything that they have overheard. Regurgitated style and uninspired experiences because without the murkiness of life, you really don’t have art.
Having opinions is great and everyone should have a stand because then it means you are firm in your beliefs and you aren’t just going with the flow but remember, your stand is only as strong as the foundation you built it on. If you aren’t taking the time to build it then it will crumble. Whether it is when you are online hating and trolling in the comments or it is when you decide to erase authenticity in your art by Chat-gpt-ing your opinions (oh gosh, it has become a verb).
Criticism of any form requires thought and everyone should think for themselves. Don’t be like some buffoons who just follow the leader and destroy everything standing in their path (I am definitely referencing the attack (s) here). Be unique, stand out and throw your law degree away and create art. Or use it to save the artists.
I do support all lawyers and I think you guys are amazing and that you will save everyone who deserves justice. Thank you!
