Almost 5 years ago, when the first lockdown had ended, I decided that the only way I could process everything going on in my life was if I could punch a bag with the correct form, of course.
All I had to do was find a place with a great bag, and even greater teachers.
Alpha Omega Contact Sports Academy (Kolkata) had both and oh do they have patience; if I could learn it and get hooked to a sport, you know that they are doing everything they can to truly make you addicted to a sport.
Kickboxing was everything and more to me after that. It was constant and it was calming and challenging.
But it is a violent sport.
Speaking to Coach Shiba who is also a co-founder of the Academy, I realised how uncontrollable matches can be. Injuries because of logistical and technical negligence can be more common than those sustained during the match itself.
Thus, my law degree curiosity kicked in and I had to know; is my gym safe from negligence matters? What liability contracts are being signed? What are the facilities they keep available for their players?
